In New York, which allows fusion, it seems that finding statewide results broken down by party is nearly impossible.
The state’s Board of Elections certainly doesn’t do it. Their idea of election night reporting is a letter explaining why they won’t bother, because it’s very hard to collect such information and report it.
Forget that almost every other state has figured it out.
Anyway, one of the few mysteries remaining from Tuesday’s election in New York is which parties will secure a ballot line for future elections. To do so, the party’s gubernatorial candidate must poll at least 50,000 votes. We know the Greens have passed that mark, as well as the Independence, Conservative and Working Families Party.
The rest of the parties that nominated their own candidates, such as the Freedom and Anti-Prohibition Party have fallen well short. But that stille leaves the New York Taxpayers Party, which was formed in August of 2010 by Republican Gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino.
One way to figure it out how things are looking for the Taxpayers Party is to look at local election sites. For Albany county, the local Board of Elections has broken down their numbers by party.
Here’s what we’ve found, and it REALLY doesn’t look good for the Taxpayers Party…
Andrew M. Cuomo (DEM) . . . . . . 55,436 (57.46%)
Carl P. Paladino (REP) . . . . . . 21,499 (22.28%)
Andrew M. Cuomo (IND) . . . . . . 3,247 (3.37%)
Carl P. Paladino (CON) . . . . . . 4,500 (4.66%)
Andrew M. Cuomo (WOR) . . . . . . 2,964 (3.07%)
Howie Hawkins (GRN) . . . . . . . 2,989 (3.10%)
Jimmy McMillan (RDH). . . . . . . 980 (1.02%)
Warren Redlich (LBT). . . . . . . 3,312 (3.43%)
Charles Barron (FDM). . . . . . . 108 (.11%)
Carl P. Paladino (TXP) . . . . . . 411 (.43%)
Kristin M. Davis (APP) . . . . . . 835 (.87%)
