Like Donald Trump, who refuses to rule out the possibility of re-entering the 2012 presidential sweepstakes next year as an independent candidate, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee might also be having second thoughts about running.
“Everything is still open. I haven’t closed doors, because I found long ago that that’s not a smart thing to do,” Huckabee told reporters following a speech at the Clinton presidential library in Little Rock yesterday.
He also refused to rule out the possibility of a vice-presidential candidacy next year, or another bid for the White House in 2016.
During his speech, the Fox News talk show host told an audience of about 300 people that President Obama’s campaign war chest, which is expected to total approximately a billion dollars, was a major factor in his decision not to jump into the race this time around.
On May 14, Huckabee told his Saturday evening Fox viewing audience that he wouldn’t actively seek his party’s presidential nomination in 2012.
