Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is launching a television ad opposing a hike in the debt ceiling. The Paul campaign is reportedly spending six figures on the 60-second ad, which will begin airing in Iowa and New Hampshire on Friday, making it the largest ad buy at this early stage in the campaign.
“In the ‘80s, they did it to Reagan,” a narrator ominously warns. “A debt ceiling compromise: Democrats promising spending cuts and delivering only tax hikes. The ‘90s brought more compromises.”
“The next chapter will be written,” continues the narrator to images of President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. “We know where they stand.
“But will out party leaders repeat the mistakes of the past?” asks the narrator as an image of House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell flashes across the screen.
“Will they choose compromise or conviction?”
“One candidate has always been true” the commercial concludes.
“Ron Paul: Cut spending, balance the budget, no deals. Standing up to the Washington machine, guided by principle. Restore America now.”
