According to the Washington Post, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann raised $4.2 million for her presidential campaign in the second quarter, including a $2 million transfer from her congressional campaign committee.
The Minnesota congresswoman reportedly had 88,000 contributors and had $3.6 million cash on hand as of June 30.
Though her fundraising totals were dwarfed by GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney, who raised $18.25 million during the second quarter, Bachmann didn’t officially join the Republican field until June 27, but had signaled her intention to become a candidate during the presidential debate in Manchester, New Hampshire, two weeks earlier.
Bachmann has more cash on hand than any other Republican candidate except for Romney. The former governor of Massachusetts reported $12.6 million in cash heading into the third quarter.
Battleground Blog will have more information about Bachmann’s second quarter report as details become available.
