Jill Stein’s march to the Green Party nomination continued this weekend with big victories at state conventions in Maryland and Delaware. Stein is now the party’s presumptive nominee having captured, by our count, at least 107 of the 201 delegates she would need to secure the nomination. Her nearest competitor, former sitcom star Roseanne Barr has the support of around 20 pledged delegates.
In Maryland, the party held a primary on Saturday to allocate six delegates to the national convention. The result: 5 went for Jill Stein and 1 for Roseanne Barr.
Delaware’s Green Party convention chose four delegates, pledging all four of them to Stein.
Meanwhile, the party’s two leading candidates participated in a San Francisco forum. That state will hold a Green Party statewide primary on June 5, giving Barr her last real shot on regaining any meaningful ground in the delegate race.
