With early results starting to dribble in from North Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky and other states where the polls have just closed it appears that Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson is on track to outpoll 2008 nominee Bob Barr by a significant margin.
In Indiana, one of the first states where the polls closed, Johnson is at 2.0% of the vote, fulling doubling the performance of Barr.
In Florida, Johnson is polling at just over 0.4% of the vote, more than twice the percentage won by Barr in 2008. The Johnson campaign appears on track to secure about 35,000 votes in the Sunshine State.
In the race to break a million votes nationally, Johnson is still viable though he’ll need strong performances west of the Mississippi to ensure he blows past the symbolic marker.
We’ll keep updating the site as more results become available.
