Former Democratic Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich signed a multi-year deal with Fox News, the “fair and balanced” conservative news outlet announced on Wednesday.
The eight-term congressman and one-time mayor of Cleveland will make his debut as a political analyst for the highly-partisan cable channel, masquerading as a legitimate news network, later this evening on “The O’Reilly Factor.”
“I’ve always been impressed with Rep. Kucinich’s fearlessness and thoughtfulness about important issues,” Fox News chair and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement. “His willingness to take a stand from his point of view makes him a valuable voice in our country’s debate.”
Ailes is right. Kucinich, who was first elected to public office in 1969 when he became a Cleveland city councilmen at the age of 23, has a lot to offer.
Unlike most of the vacuous talking heads that dominate the right-wing cable channel’s airtime — few, if any, of whom have actually been involved in retail politics or have ever experienced life’s true hardships — Kucinich has a treasure chest of experience to draw upon, not only from his vast political experience but also from his working-class upbringing, a childhood that once found the future congressman and his six siblings living in a car.
The 66-year-old former Ohio lawmaker — a man who was once crucified for standing up to the banks — said that he welcomed the opportunity to share his insight with a network that he said had long provided him a forum for his progressive views, including coverage of his unsuccessful bids for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004 and 2008.
“Through 16 years in Congress and two presidential campaigns, Fox News has always provided me with an opportunity to share my perspective” with its large audience, Kucinich said in a statement issued yesterday. “I look forward to a continuation of our relationship.”
Kucinich, who had considered relocating and running for Congress from the state of Washington, lost his bid for a ninth term in the U.S. House last March when redistricting forced him to run against fellow Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur in Ohio’s newly-configured ninth congressional district — losing that bitterly-contested race by a margin of 42,902 to 30,654.
Chalk one up for Roger Ailes.
Fox News is a propaganda machine which dumbs down America by the day through disinformation and their slanted agendas. See their anchors spewing forth feces from their mouths in my visual homage to the network on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-fox-news-scylla-guardian-of-bullsht.html
I think that Fox News hiring Dennis Kucinich is a prime example of why it is not a highly-partisal news channel but is the most fair and balanced news channels out there. This is the same company that hired too politically incorrect Juan Williams.
refreshing news – Dennis Kucinichis an honest, creative, interesting guy. I hope it’s not pearls-before-swine: Fox newsies aren’t known for being open-minded. Anyone offering new perspectives are usually burned at the stake.
