Pacific Green Party candidate Jason Levin crashed a debate between his Democratic and Republican rivals earlier today by simply walking into the room and grabbing a seat next to the two men. The debate was taking place at the offices of the Pamplin Media Group and in front of the editorial boards of the Pamplin Media Group and the EO Media Group.
In the video above, Levin enters the room at approximately the 8:40 mark. He showed up wearing a suit and gained access to the room by simply telling the receptionist that he was there for the debate, without any additional explanation.
A tip of the hat to Ballot Access News for sharing this story.
Initially the moderators of the discussion told Levin there wasn’t time for questioning three candidates, and they offered to interview him separately after the event was over. Levin pushed back: “You don’t have time for a legitimate candidate who’s on the ballot to participate in a forum like this? I think we’ve established that separate but equal is not equal.”
After a moment of confusion, Levin was handed a microphone and the event continued with all three men participating.
NOTE: For some reason, the audio in the video above is pretty bad, but you can hear the exchange if you turn the volume way up.
