Lynn Williams, the former state chair of the Maine Green Independent Party, has endorsed independent Eliot Cutler for Governor.
Cutler, who is making his second bid as an independent, came within 2% of victory back in 2010. His campaign has been endorsed by Maine’s independent U.S. Senator Angus King.
Williams wrote her endorsement of Cutler as an op-ed, which appeared in the Bangor Daily News, noting in part:
I do not agree with Eliot Cutler on everything, but I have never agreed with any candidate on everything. Even my dear friend and Green Party leader Pat LaMarche and I have issues, some big ones, that we disagree on. So all we can ever look for in a candidate is whether we agree with his or her general philosophy of governance, whether we agree on the big, non-negotiable issues, whether there is openness to talking about the disputed issues and, as an old-time pol in San Francisco once said to me, “whether they’ll return my calls.”
As former state chair of the Maine Green Independent Party, I believe that Eliot Cutler is the only candidate who meets these standards and I am proud to support him.
