CONTEST: Predict the Vote for Independent and Third Party Candidates (Win Prizes!)

Readers of Uncovered Politics know that a lot of our attention gets focused on independent and minor party candidates for office.

These candidates are often the “ultimate underdogs” and, even when they don’t win, frequently raise important issues and make a major impact on the overall discussion.  Some have even said 2010 would be the year of the independent, with strong candidates for governor and U.S. Senate in a number of states that could actually win.

But is that all hype or will we see legitimate victories come November 2nd?

We want to know what you think, so Uncovered Politics has decided to sponsor a “predict the vote” contest… with prizes!

We will offer up the names of 25 of the highest-profile independent and third party candidates currently running for public office. You predict the percentage of the vote each candidate will capture on election day, posting that in a comment (below) to this article. You must include your email address in the field provided in order to be eligible for the prizes.

After the election, we will total all the percentages received by each candidate and compare that total with the total of your guesses. The person who guesses the closest in terms of overall percentages will be our overall winner, and he or she will get signed copies of all four books from Darcy Richardson’s “Others” series – that’s over a $130 value!

By the way, the fifth book in the seven-part series is scheduled to be published in 2011.

Additionally, a second prize will be awarded to the person who guesses the most number of races with the correct percentage. That person will win a “Perot Prize Pack” made up of several original Ross Perot campaign items from the 1992 and 1996 presidential campaigns. It may include one or more bumperstickers as well as an original yard sign.

So start guessing! This contest closes at Noon Eastern time on Election Day!
