Newly declared Presidential candidate and Michigan Congressman Thad McCotter was interviewed by Fox News host Gretchen Carlson on Fox and Friends last week. The result was a comically awkward exchange in which McCotter appears to be laughing or rolling his eyes at some of the more inane questions he’s being asked. It’s certainly not the most presidential performance, and it seems unlikely that conservatives will be happy to hear about his support for the auto industry bailout.
A recent newspaper editorial in his home state recently lashed McCotter, saying he “should just stay home here in Michigan and work on his people skills.”
Here’s the interview…
I didn’t see any eye-rolling, and his chuckles seemed good-natured, not sneering. Quit assuming bad intent when there’s none there.
I have noticed that sometimes he blinks a lot, as if his eyes are bothering him. He often wears glasses, but maybe he wears contact lenses for TV appearances like this and just needs to get new lenses with a better fit.
