One of the nation’s most-watched gubernatorial contests is still too close to call, with incumbent Republican Rick Scott barely leading Democrat Charlie Crist.  With 95% of the vote counted, Libertarian Adrian Wyllie is currently winning about 4% of the vote or 208,532 votes.  That’s the best statewide showing for a Libertarian candidate in Florida history and the best showing for a minor party candidate in a Florida statewide race since 1974.

Wyllie has far surpassed the 123,831 votes won by Independence Party nominee Peter Allen in 2010 and the 92,595 votes for Reform Party candidate Max Linn in 2006.

Also performing well is the party’s other statewide nominee, Bill Wohlsifer, who is winning about 3% of 157,000 votes in the Attorney General contest.
